Summer's almost over!

I can't believe there is only one more week til school starts. The boys will both be full time and I will be looking for a job this Fall!
My incision seems like it's healing nicely - I was getting a little worried this week that it might be infected but I think it seems to be looking a little better now so it's probably not - I hope. I'm still taking some of the pain pills but am stretching it out as long as I can between them. After I got the pacemaker in March I was prescribed percoset but never took them once I got home from the hospital because they made me feel sick. I took tylenol extra strength and got by on that. It's nice to have something a little stronger to take the edge off this time. The staples come out 8/28. I've been told that by the time they are supposed to come out the incision should be so well healed that it doesn't hurt. But my incision is still sooo red and sensitive and sore - I can't imagine taking those things out in a week. Hopefully there will be a lot of healing between now and then!

I have watched more tv in the last two weeks than I think I've watched in the last two years. I saw the series The Cleaner for the first time. This episode was about a stay-at-home-mommy addicted to oxycotten and running her own little mommies-drug-group with meetings at the park during playdates! I couldn't believe it and as a stay at home mommy myself currently on pain management it struck a nerve! I took it as a warning sign and swore to myself that I would start cutting down on the pain pills asap!

I thoroughly enjoyed a Doris Day marathon with this being my favorite scene of them all.... it's from the movie Young at Heart...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLtS9gQKhtw Maybe I love it so much because it's one of my parent's favorite songs.
I just love the way Sinatra sings it here.

Right after I got out of the hospital I watched Coma and was totally freaked out by it this time.

I finally saw National Treasure 1 and National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. I love stories that combine history with modern-day in a good adventure/mystery. I enjoyed both movies but didn't love them.

I finally saw The Notebook after everyone telling me "you gotta see this movie!" "it's such a Laura movie!" I loved the romance between them when they were young but I hated the story-line between them when they're old. It made me so depressed about growing old and I hate when a movie makes me cry that much. The older I get the more I appreciate a good comedy.
I've gotten hooked on several series....

I love Paranormal State and Ghost Hunters

Ghost Whisperer is interesting (I see a theme here ...I love ghost stories!)...

Psych is funny - I love the sidekick guy, I think his name is Gus

Monk is the BEST!

Everybody Loves Raymond is hysterical

Will and Grace and Frasier make me laugh out loud

King of Queens is funny, the father cracks me up

I love Seventh Heaven - I think of it as today's version of Little House on the Prairie - it always makes you feel good!

I love all the Nanny shows - Nanny 911, Super Nanny, Take Home Nanny etc. But Nanny 911 is my favorite!

The boys have been getting into the olympics and have a new hero in Michael Phelps. I keep saying I want to do some research with them and learn all about the history of the Olympics and maybe even do a little study on China.
I've only read one book out of the pile I'd planned on reading. Siobhan gave me Twilight by Stephanie Meyers and I really enjoyed it.
We're having a hard time getting our heads academically inclined this summer! Usually we are pretty good about keeping up with our school work during the summer but we've been major slackers this year. I can't believe school starts in a week and we're getting up at 9AM every morning! We are sooo out of whack! We better start getting on the ball and fast!

We had my mom here for a week which was great. She took such good care of us and we still miss her! It alot of ways it was like having Nanny 911 right here! She taught us lots and we've been trying hard to continue with the good habits and routines that she started us on. And although she won't admit it I think she's now a dog person. At any rate Lina loves her and would whimper whenever mom went to a different part of the house!

Poor Christopher has now come down with a case of poison oak all over his face. We got him to the doctor today and he prescribed orapred (a steroid) and benadryl for the itching. Said it'ss not contagious and should be better in 3-5 days.

Here are some pics from the last few weeks....

Noni had the boys in the kitchen cooking everyday!
She is a much better mommy than I am!

This is Christopher & Noni's pancake bear!

They kept pushing the surgery back and it was getting tough to keep waiting, so they gave me some xanax for my nerves.

There are no picutres after the surgery because they would be too scary to post!

Although Sicko (me) did take pictures of the incision the day I got home from the hospital so I could look back and see how much it's healed over time. I'll be nice though and not post those here.

Christopher and his poison oak face - my poor baby....

And just look what it's done to his feet!!!
