Pictures from the garden....

Yesterday Christopher came home from school with
a teeny tiny planter containing a teeny tiny sunflower seed.
We planted it in the garden right away and will be watching it closely......
This is what it looked like yesterday on Wednesday, June 4.

This is what it looked like early this morning - Thursday, June 5.
It looks like it's lifting it's little head a little!
We're getting very excited!

A couple of weeks ago we went to a nursery with my mother-in-law.
She told Christopher to pick out any two he liked and she would get them for him for the garden. He picked out these beautiful plants. The leaves are gorgeous with fiery red vains. But we had an extra surprise yesterday morning when we woke up and found this beautiful flower on one of them! We had no idea that they flowered too! As the day went on the flower opened up more and more. I just love the color.

Afew hours later it really opened up....

There is a legend that a mythical lady once transformed herself into a flower. The gerbera daisy flower is considered a descendant of this flower. The daisy represents innocence and purity, and is a classic symbol of beauty. However, the gerbera variety holds an added meaning of cheerfulness.
