Update on the Hayes Family....

Since I won't be able to post pics for a while (Okay, I actually did break down and get a disposable today - will post those pics soon...) I thought I'd do a quick update on everyone....
Kenny Jr. - Just turned 13 on October 23rd! He's a teenager!!! He is in 7th grade and doing great. Looks like he will once again be on the Honor Roll! He is also still playing lacrosse, football and wrestling.
Eddie - Is 7 now and in first grade. He loves his teacher and is doing very well so far. He has gotten 100% on all his tests so far. This is the first time he has taken tests like this and received real grades ......I think it's soooo exciting! He is playing soccer, taking CCD and getting ready to start basketball.
Christopher - Is 5 now and reading!!! We have been working on this since the summer and it is now really coming together for him! We started with the BOB books but he is now moving on to the Phonics series, some Usbornes and more. Eddie never cared for the BOB books but they definitely worked for Chris. When Eddie was learning how to read I started a basket for him and every book he read by himself would go in that basket. We did this every night until after a while the basket was overflowing. I just passed on the basket to Christopher about a week ago and he was soooooo excited! He wants to read two books a night now so he can fill it even faster! He is in Kindergarten now and just loves it. I tell everyone what he said about his teacher because I just thought it was so sweet, "Mom, she's sooo nice that she's like two really nice people put together!"
I have taken gamecube away AGAIN. I truly hate those video games. When they're not fighting over it they're spending they're time mindlessly. YUK. I guess it was okay in the summer when they had more free time but now that school has started again we just have better things to do with our time. And now they have gone back to doing what I love...puzzles, activity books, crafts and card & board games. Eddie and Chris have both actually just learned Chess and are obsessed with it! Eddie's been trying to learn a lot about it on his own and has been reading "Chess for Kids." They crack me up because Eddie keeps calling the Bishops Bis-hops and Chris keeps calling the Rooks - Crooks. But this gets me really excited. This is how I love to see them spend their free time! We do still play Webkinz -in fact I even have my own, a pink poodle and I have my own house too - which I love to decorate! But I really do think that in moderation Webkinz is not a bad thing and does do some teaching as well. And they're really, really cute. :-)
Christopher played soccer this fall, his first organized sport and is also in Kindegarten CCD.
Ken - is back at work and very, very busy. His foot still hurts A LOT and he is still on some pain medication. Rainy days are the worst for him. His boss has been keeping him so busy that all work on the upstairs bathroom has come to a screeching halt for the last month or so. He is busy but holding his own and doing well.
Lina - is getting so big! She will be getting spayed on November 20th. It is at least a five day recovery. Ken has volunteered to stay home on Thanksgiving to take care of her since I don't think she should be alone so soon after the surgery.
I am getting very excited for Christmas. Can't wait to get the decorations out - it seems it's a little earlier every year! I think I'm going to start pulling down boxes next week. Other than that I am just really, really bummed about my camera breaking.
That's us. I'd love to get some updates from anyone else who reads this - just hit the comments link and post away! Go ahead!!!!
