The Best Mother's Day Ever!!!!

We went to see Mary Poppins on Broadway at the BEAUTIFUL New Amsterdam Theater!

"The New Amsterdam theater is one of the oldest surviving theaters on Broadway. The 42nd Street Beaux-Arts entrance opens into the finest arts-neuveux theater interiors in NYC. Carved and painted plaster, carved stone, carved wood, murals & tiles all combine to evoke what it was like going to the theater at the turn of the century."

Mary Poppins (and Alice in Wonderland) are my favorite childhood stories/movies! The play was Amazing!!! I LOVED it...we all did! It had it's own twist to the story including meeting Mr. Banks childhood Nanny, Miss Andrews (aka the Holy Terror) and her Brimstone & Treacle scene was great as was the one where they lock her up in a bird's cage and she disappears into sparks & smoke. I had so many favorite scenes.....Step-in-Time, Anything Can Happen (another new number), Burt dancing on the ceiling (really!), Mary Poppins flying up over the audience and right in front of the mezzanine section (where we were)! It was awesome and made me laugh & cry and feel great! Thanks Noni & Pop for a great Mother's Day!!!!

Before the play we went to the huge Toys R' Us......
We had fun watching and then learning for this really nice guy how to play Myachi...the latest hot new toy??? http://www.myachi.com/expert.html

The kids had so much fun with it Grandma bought the each one!

After the play we had lunch at a fun Texas BBQ place....
It all started well enough......

But then something happened....Noni & Pop were in very strange moods....
Maybe it was the play? The city?
Or maybe it was the Texas sized drinks they ordered?

Then Pop thought it would be fun to teach the boys how to blow spitballs through their straws.....

And all hell broke loose.....

I just LOVE walking around in the city and we such a gorgeous day for it....

We ran into some interesting characters.....

I gasped when I saw him.....
til I realized he was a wax statue....sooooo lifelike!!!

I found some scenes from the play on youtube....
Burt Dances Up the Wall Onto the Ceiling!!!
